At the same time we must beware of those who
stand by rejoicing. They are supposing that our expul- sion of the Communists is just like their so-called
"punishment of Reds". The local rascals, degenerate
gentry, and corrupt and avaricious officials believe that this is their opportunity to rise and renew their
oppression of the peasants and workmen. The Imperialists
and their tame dogs, the Militarists, have been made
particularly glad, clapping their hands and congratulat-
ing one another, thinking that we will very likely make
friendly terms with them. But let all of us comrades
warn them in loud tones, "You local rascals, degenerate
gentry, greedy merchants, corrupt officials, militarists
and Imperialists have no occasion to rejoice. As long
as we live, we will allow no reactionaries to regain
power. We will not have done with you until the peasants
and workmen have been emancipated from the fetters that
distress them." We have again to warn the Imperialists,
especially you British, that you should not be in such
a hurry to remove your barricades at Shameen or withdraw
your troops. Our strikers from Hong Kong, 100,000 in
number, have not yet secured a settlement.
